What This Blog's About

The purpose of this blog is to provide realistic dealing-with-the-boss advice, and to critique current news about workplace issues. Being in the news doesn't make advice right. I'll let you know which ideas will work and which might get you into trouble--and why. At other times, I won't be able to resist just pointing out the absurdity of some workplace issues made possible by loopholes in laws and other agreements.

I'm a behavioral scientist who has practiced mostly as an Organization Development consultant and researcher. I'm also the author of The Washington Post-recommended book, "Who's Afraid of the Big, Bad Boss? 13 Types and How to Survive Them," -- a book that's been mentioned in the news around the country and around the world. Why is word spreading? Because readers know a good thing when they see it. Unlike so many others, this book doesn't offer more of the same useless suggestions like, "sit down and have a talk with your boss" -- who couldn't care less about doing the right thing for you, your company or its customers. There's plenty of bad-boss advice on the book's Web site at BigBadBoss.com (http://www.bigbadboss.com/), too.

I hope you find something useful during your visit. If not this time, next time.
